Vets Have Demanding Jobs and Don't Get Paid

People expect treatment of animals to be free. This is a fact. That is why there is a high suicide rate for veterinary surgeons. The suicide rate for vets is four times higher than the rest of the population.

In cities people take their pets to the vet when there is serious injury or illness or when an animal is at death's door. If their pet dies while being treated or operated on it is the norm, expected, that the vet will wave charges. And again, after a pet is put down it is deemed to be rude for the vet to charge a reasonable fee.

Rural regions operate in a different way. Veterinary surgeons are on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. At lambing time they are rushed off their feet. Every farmer pays 3 months after service, so vets are in debt to the bank from the start. The days of paying with eggs are not gone either. Meat is often offered as payment.

Why do people train to be vets? They obviously love animals, like the technical side of the job, or have community spirit. They will not become wealthy nor have secure futures.

A Basket of Miracles

Hello everyone (^_^)
I just came back from my turtle research in Turtle Islands, Sabah.

I got a surprise for you all.
Its a red basket...
...filled with newly hatched baby turtles! =^_^=
I was asked by one of the staffs on Turtle Island whether I was interested to help them release the hatchlings into the open ocean.
It was indeed a great pleasure!

These baby turtles (Green + four Hawksbill turtles) were hatched in the Selingan turtle hatchery that morning.
Have a safe 'lost years' my babies~!
What kind of research am I currently doing?
You'll find out soon :P Hopefully it would make a good honours project.
None of these would be possible without the help of everyone there in Turtle Islands! Everyone was being sweet and helpful! Thank you for giving me the opportunity to experience these miracles!

Back to the hatchlings,
~.. There's this one turtle I'm concern about....
While other hatchlings went toward the sea, this little one headed off to the opposite direction. I kept on turning it around but it still crawled back to the wrong destination.

At first, I thought this baby turtle had something wrong with its magnetism (that helps adult turtle to orientate).
I read some journals that - once the baby hatchlings reached up to the surface,
they use environmental cues such as the visual lighting from the moon and the ocean; and the beach slope, to navigate them to the water. (source)

...so.. does that mean that this baby turtle is somewhat blind?

Me and my ugly face

Had fever for a few days, Alhamdulillah Im feeling better now.

But a problem is still there..
Giant pimples! Arrggghh
I haven't met many of my friends ever since I arrived home. Either that im busy or I just don't feel like it.
Come on, I can't even stand looking at myself in the mirror at the moment!

Im very self-cautious now. Everytime I talked with people, it felt like they were just staring at my pimples!
I even prayed hoping that I wont encounter anyone who knows me everytime I go out........Well, that already happened by the way.

It doesn't feel nice at all = =
What do you usually do when this happens?
(or it never happen to you at all.. = =)

Yes, I tried to cover it with makeup and concealer, but it doesn't work!
SO big and SO red! (LOL)

Its amazing how pimples can affect my self-esteem.

Im going to Sandakan in Sabah Malaysia in an hour.
Let me post a recent picture that put a smile on my face :P
My li'l cousin, Alai Nor using a torchlight to play with the cats ^^

Our panda BUNNY, the FISH, the SEAL and everything else in Pu3's world.

When exam is finally over~ I started to think about the things that should be done, and things that I should do...
I mean, maigawd! It's summer holiday already!!
Should I write down a list or something? "Pu3's summer goals"~..nah.
Lets just wait and see.

So anyway, my mum messaged me from Brunei telling me that they bought a NEW PET!
A RABBIT! Again??!! (I had a rabbit bestfriend named Qutie for 6 years, he died when I was 15 -_-, we brought home 2 more rabbits after that, but it was never the same, they died pretty soon after as well)

So I asked my mum to post the picture up on facebook.
When I saw the bunny, I was like
HOMAIGAWWDDDD~..........

Don't you think that our new bunny looks like a PANDA??

My little sister told me her name is 'Kimchi Rice Cake The Kiss'
What the hell, so long?!
I can't wait to go home this summer!! ^_^

Moving on

Let me update you with the not-so-fun part of my life.
My life, as a Marine Biology student in Scotland.

Goodbye Totoro.. T_T

Everything was decided in one day all of the sudden .
My flatmate Sa, has always been allergic to animals, yet she let Totoro stayed in our place for a while before summer holiday. Her allergy was getting worst day by day to the point her nose started to bleed.
I had to take Totoro away as soon as possible. Unfortunately no one is free at this time, there's only 1 choice left.

Animal adoption.
Then again, I was planning to give him away this summer anyway~ (Because last summer cost me 400pounds already. Im just a student!).
Plus my parents never like the idea of me keeping an animal in my room, its not healthy. They're right.

Its just a lil bit too early, Im just not ready to let him go.
But I have to, letting go is a part of life I need to face.

About my guinea pig,
I bought him at Aberdeen's 'Pets at Home' February last year. (Link1) (Link2)
He was so tiny and he had this cute mohawk hair :)
He grew a lot eversince.

And look at him now.
A giant black bushy creature.

Its time to lets him go....

I gave him back to the place where I found him.
Good thing they have an adoption centre in Aberdeen.
Filling a form with detailed information about Totoro.
'Reason: Owner's allergy (?)'
'About me: No hugs, just talk'
'Loves: Parsley and Yogurt drops'
'Hates: Being hold on to'

Totoro loves to play around my room whenever he wanted.
He's usually very noisy - asking for food, sings along everytime i sang~ and he talks back everytime I talked to him.
But i am not allowed to pick him up! (only by force)
But he loves face massages lol. :P

Peter, thank you for helping me out sending Totoro at the very last minute ;)

Be a good boy Totoro...

Hopefully you'll get a new lovable owner who loves to talk a lot like you do.

Im missing you

He ate my Polo~

I should say my favoarite candy I hardly miss everyday would be polo.
And wow oh wow..
i didn't know my guinea pig loves them too! \(*o*)/
Owh Totoro....please live longer

In the mean time,
I am still packing my stuffs~..
Im moving out to a  new place this Sunday :) Can't wait!
I'll post the pictures of my new room one day yah.

Its been 4 days since my Belfast trip.. and Uni will reopen this Monday! Argh I wish the time stopped when I was in Ireland~.. Its been a long while ever since I enjoyed this much.
I have nearly forgotten the great feelings I had for all my friends. Now I remember why I sacrificed a lot for them.

I am seriously in love with everyone...

Please don't do this to me!

I'm not happy!
What did I do this time ah?
I used to be annoyed by his talkative behaviour,
but now that he's quiet... Maigawd! I never felt so lonely!

Totoro doesn't talk back much nowadays,
and he doesn't even come to me when I called him!
Im getting worried really~ @_@ Is he okay?

See, both of my flatmates went to Malaysia for a month & a half... leaving me here home alone.
 I don't like the silence~... =_=
But anyway, Easter holiday next next week! XD
Looking forward for a brand new adventure!

Okay everyone!
Sing 'Under the Sea' with me!

Above is a keychain from last holiday in London'e Sea-Life aquarium with Zai. ^^ Pretty cool huh?
We were riding a giant turtle under the ocean!
No oxygen tank needed, how awesome is that? Lol.

"So Pu3~ whats your plan this Easter?"
Adeler~.. Just keep coming to my blog! \(^_^)/

Pu3 and Her LX3

Bought a Panasonic Lumix DMC LX-3 from crazycamera.co.uk 3-4weeks ago and thought that I got scammed! Found all the bad reviews about that site after getting no luck from my items in 2 weeks.
I was devastated and heartbroken for a few days expecting 290pounds money loss and no camera at all.

But alas~ I got an email from crazycamera a week ago saying that they have dispatched my item, and received my camera set the next day! Imagine my relief! Syukur Alhamdullilah~..

Why I buy a new camera? Cause my Sony Cyber-shot have lost some of its function especially focusing (although its still good under bright light). I get disappointed with the photo outcome now. Some hotos in blog are taken with iphone ^^ sadly its hard to handle!

Now I got my LX3, I kept on getting demands from my friends and family to post up the photos took with my new camera ^_^ Sabar bebz. Note that I haven't learn much on the correct way to fully use my LX3.

Here are my 1st few photos taken.
Strawberry cake (i love!), my flatmates' stethoscope, Jeri's chocolate biscuit, my pink recycle bag bear and the tiny cactus I bought last 2 years (Dodi! Peter! Its still alive!)
Didn't know how to focus yet (used intelligent iso)

Then i saw this small 'focus' button~ lol

Off to university~
Welcome to the dull and gloomy Aberdeen.
Nah, this was taken in late afternoon with Pinhole Scene mode. The weather nowadays are quite good actually.Except for the borders, the scenery photos are not photoshopped just so you know.

Ugh, gloomy stuffs makes me sad. Go to the bright one 1st la, we'll go back later.

Emerging spring flowers in the botanic garden outside my Zoology building.
The wideness of a photo can be adjusted. Photo above is adjusted to 4:3 wide

and below is 16:9 wide

Snowdrop - always the 1st one to emerge at the beginning of the spring. ;)Enough flowers, lets go inside!

"Meow, meow"
Owh did I tell you that my department is also Aberdeen's Zoology Museum?

After class, I walked around campus.
Photo taken with Film Grain scene mode
Kings College - the landmark of Aberdeen University. It is an ancient university (the 5th oldest in UK) which was founded 1495. That's 515 years ago!
Some of my classes are held here as well.

New Kings, Taylor building and Elphinstone Hall

That's all for the campus tour.

Next photo shows how wide the photo capture is.
This is Pete's Kitchen by the way ;) Not mine.
And just last night, I finally discovered the use of manual focus!
..Focusing on Jeri's R2D2 phone strap i bought him for Christmas.
One last thing! Because of the quick shot and good stabiliser, I can finally capture my guinea pig easily! Yay!

Awwwwwwww~ look at him ;D struggling himself to escape.
The cutest yet most annoying creature on earth.
Maigawd~ Lumix LX3 is simply awesome! ^^
Lot of love!!
